Coxswains Cottage is situated in the unique village of Thorpeness near Aldeburgh in Suffolk. The village was created in the early 1900s by local landowner Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie who made the village a destination for wealthy Edwardians. Today the village still boasts its own Golf Club, Tennis Club, large man-made boating lake (The Meare), and Pub, all of which formed the basis for Ogilvies dream.
The cottage was refurbished in 2008 and has joined together two former fishermans cottages to form one 2 bedroom 2 bathroom home furnished to high standard throughout. Located just yards from the beach it makes a great place to stay for couples or a family.
The accommodation consists in brief of South facing front garden, Sitting Room, Kitchen/Diner with hand made units and granite worktops, there are 2 staircases each leading up to a bedroom and bathroom. To the rear of the cottage is a private courtyard with table, chairs and bench (there is also access over the rear of the next door cottage - useful for bringing in bikes or when you come back from the sea dripping wet!)
